Katrina: Getting revved for Walk, Wag & Run

Check out Katrina Benedict's post about Walk Wag and Run on the Dallas Moms Blog. Post a comment!

Here are some other pictures that Katrina shared.

Ethan Benedict GENTLY pets the baby goat at the Walk, Wag & Run petting zoo. Good boy.

Kate Benedict's mom is from Wisconsin, so she naturally loves cows. What a treat for this city girl!

Gabi Cortez is proud of the baby chick perched on her arm at the Walk, Wag & Run petting zoo. Awwww.

Ahhh October!!

It’s finally October...the weather is doing crazy, cooler things; the pumpkins are out; Fall is in the air; and Walk Wag and Run is only 15 days away! We have a team of 12 directors and 20 committee members that have been hard at work putting together another wonderful event for our community. October 24th will be here before we know it!

Focus on the human race

And by that we mean WWR's 5K/10K Run Your Tail Off race. Beginning at 8 am, this race kicks off the day of fun. With prizes awarded to the top three male & female finishers in the each age group (10-75+), there's sure to be some friendly competition (and some unexpected prizes may be awarded - so test the wind resistance of your Halloween costumes). Serious racers will appreciate the familiar course on White Rock Lake, beginning down from Winfrey Point, and the ChronoTrack timing by Run On! (along with packet pick-up at Run On! locations). For those looking for motivation or fun, course entertainers will be there to cheer you along. And to keep the memory of WWR09 alive, all Run Your Tail Off entrants will receive a technical shirt.

This year, WWR is excited to welcome Kids Run the Nation participants! These kids are training with the YMCA and Run On! in a six-week running program that culminates with the 5K Run Your Tail Off race. For more information on the Kids Run the Nation program, click here to visit the press release.

Runners of all ages will be able to stay to enjoy the day's festivities because a race entry gets you in to all other activities - so bring the dogs and kids along to cheer you on and stay for fun!

Thanks to the Big Dogs

It's no secret that events like Walk Wag and Run take lots of planning, people and support. WWR is so thankful for all of our sponsors at every level!! Many have been supporting the event for years, and as a result, the event has grown tremendously. From time to time, we'd like to highlight our sponsors on our blog.

We're so excited to have our Big Dog Sponsors! We'd like to extend special thanks to Big Dog Sponsor Doctor's Hospital for their tremendous support coming in as our biggest cash sponsor this year! Doctor's Hospital will also be out at the event providing medical services. Big Dog Sponsor Jenny Bean, graphic designer and owner of A Creative Bean, devoted lots of time to WWR this year and is responsible for designing our beautiful posters, fliers and ads. And speaking of posters and fliers, we wouldn't have the printed materials without Big Dog Sponsor Slocum Printing! You'll see and hear lots of valuable promotions of WWR, thanks to Big Dog Sponsors Advocate Magazine, Neighbors Go, fm 93.3 Quality Rock, and Sportsradio 1310 The Ticket.

WWR has many levels of sponsors, but as of today these sponsors are at the top of our list! Big Dog Sponsors support us at the $5000 level. If you'd like more information on sponsorship, please contact us at wwrsponsors@lakewoodserviceleague.org.

Welcome to the Walk Wag & Run Blog!

Planning for the 6th Annual Walk Wag and Run has been underway since around February of this year, and we're so excited that it's a short month and a half away! All money raised by this year's event benefits the YMCA at White Rock and For the Love of the Lake. Just like last year, we'll have three major parts to the day of fun. The 5K/10K race will begin at 8 am, the 3K dog walk on the agility course will begin at 9 am, and the 1K kids' race will begin at 10 am. The kids fair will be open all day until 1 pm. For more detailed information and to register, please visit www.walkwagandrun.org. We hope you'll join us! And check back here often for updates and insights on this great event.
